Our Committees
The Gahanna Rotary Club is broken up into 6 committees
Community Service: Our Community Service Committee is probably the most visible of the club. These members provide assistance to many worthwhile programs such as: The Gahanna Holiday Lights Parade, a Gahanna Holiday Festival; Annual Fun Run, a 5K race through the streets of Gahanna on July 4th; Bicycles for the Gahanna Police Department; The Speech & Debate Invitational, a tournament hosted by Gahanna Lincoln High School; and the new Gahanna YMCA.
Club Service: This committee organizes special events for club members and their families. Such activities include a golf outing, spouses’ and children’s holiday luncheons, and an annual dinner dance commemorating the club’s charter date.
Vocational Service: Annually our Club sponsors a Vocational Day with the high school. Students shadow a Rotarian in an occupation that interests them and attend a club luncheon
meeting to discuss their experiences. Club members are also invited to show appreciation to their employees or business associated by hosting them at Recognition Day.
International Service: Rotary International constantly has major projects geared to serve world interests. One of the most successful and most significant is the Polio Plus campaign. This program is aimed at eradicating polio throughout the world. The goal for Rotary International was to raise $120 million. The actual monies raised were $250 million. Each individual club had its own goal and the Gahanna club surpassed its goal by over 50%.
Membership: The Membership Committee is dedicated to strengthening the Gahanna Rotary Club by recruiting, engaging, and retaining members who share a commitment to service. This committee works to identify prospective members within the community, introduce them to the values and mission of Rotary, and ensure they feel welcomed and supported throughout the joining process. Beyond recruitment, the committee fosters fellowship and involvement by encouraging active participation in club meetings, events, and service projects. Members of this committee also focus on retention by promoting mentorship, recognizing achievements, and helping every Rotarian find meaningful ways to contribute their time and talents. Strong membership is the foundation of our club’s success, and this committee ensures we continue to grow with enthusiastic, service-minded individuals.
New Generations: New Generations Service recognized the positive change implemented by young adults through leadership development activities, involvement in community and international service projects, and exchange programs that enrich and foster world peace and cultural understanding. Rotary youth programs can be a starting point for a lifetime of service in Rotary, but it is important to remember that program participants are already making significant contributions in their communities and internationally. Establish strong relationships with participants not only to make a long-term investment in New Generations but also to support their service – and enrich your club – today.
